Using proxies

Raccoon is able to communicate with Google Play through proxy servers. Using this feature is discouraged for a number of reasons (especially when using "open proxies" which are notoriously unreliable).

Unfortunately, using a proxy may become necessary to bypass country restrictions. If that is the case for you, you are strongly advised to use a throw away account.

Because there are many pitfalls associated with proxies, there is no graphical configuration interface. This is an advanced feature intended to be used only by people who know what they are doing. To setup a proxy, create a file called network.cfg in the root folder of the corresponding archive (right next to credentials.cfg) with the following contents:

  proxyhost=PROXY_SERVER_ADDRESS_HERE
  proxyport=PROXY_PORT_HERE
  # Username and password is optional
  # proxyuser=USERNAME
  # proxypass=PASSWORD

Replace PROXY_SERVER_ADDRESS_HERE and PROXY_PORT_HERE respectively, then reopen the archive.
