Gnarwl is a email autoreply/vacation agent, intented to be used on mailservers, where users may not (nescessarily) have systemaccoounts, but accountinformation is kept within an LDAP database.
It is intended to be a drop in replacement for the original vacation(1) program, meaning GNARWL uses the same interface mechanism for communicating with the mailserver.
Features
- User information is kept in an LDAP database. No user shellaccounts are required.
- Configurable via single systemwide configuration file.
- Safety from creating mail loops with other automated mail user agents, such as mailing lists.
- No more messing around with individual .forward files, all userdata is kept in an LDAP database instead.
- Blacklisting of addresses, that may not use the autoresponder.
- Forceable header/footer on outgoing mail.
- Status reports via syslog.
- Not bound to a particular MTA (though postfix is recommended).
